Kirsten Boisen, MD, PhD, is a consultant at Center of Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Copenhagen University Hospital Rigshospitalet, Denmark.
Kirsten Boisen has been a strong advocate for adolescent medicine and transitional care for over 15 years and is one of the founding members of the Center of Adolescent Medicine. Beyond her clinical work, her primary focus is on advancing the field of adolescent medicine and transitional care in Denmark, as well as training healthcare professionals in this specialized area.
She has played a pivotal role in fostering nationwide collaboration, including co-founding the Danish Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, where she currently serves as chairperson. Kirsten is a frequent speaker and facilitator at both national and international events and is a faculty member of EuTeach (European Training in Effective Adolescent Care and Health), where she teaches at the EuTeach summer school.
Her contributions to research in adolescent medicine are significant. She has co-authored 75 peer-reviewed scientific papers on topics such as adolescent-friendly healthcare, treatment adherence among young patients, transitional care, the interplay between physical and mental multimorbidity, and youth involvement in healthcare.
